Career Fair Highlights
The career fair was attended by over 500 students, with many more interested in attending but unable to do so due to time constraints. The event was held in the Student Union Building, which was transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Companies represented at the fair included:
- SD Mines’ own engineering and computer science departments
- Major tech companies like Google and Microsoft
- Healthcare providers like Mayo Clinic and Sanford Health
- Financial institutions such as Wells Fargo and Bank of America
- Networking opportunities with industry professionals
- Exposure to different career paths and job opportunities
- Ability to ask questions and gain insights into companies and industries
- Building relationships with people who can provide guidance and mentorship
- Engineering Student: Emily, a mechanical engineering student, attended a career fair at a local aerospace company. She met with a representative from the company and learned about their internship program. She also had the opportunity to ask questions and gain insights into the company’s products and services. * Computer Science Student: David, a computer science student, attended a career fair at a tech startup.
Mines students who do an internship have a job placement rate of 100 percent. And 97 percent of fall semester grads are employed in their field of study.
