Empowering Individuals Through Compassionate Care
Comprehensive Approach to Recovery
The Pathways 2 Recovery program at Rutgers University is more than just a job placement program; it is a person-centered initiative that addresses the unique needs of individuals in recovery. To achieve this, the program is built on three key pillars:
- Employment and Career Development
- Social Services and Support
- Health and Wellness
These pillars are interconnected, and each plays a crucial role in creating a supportive environment that fosters growth and independence in individuals. Empowering Through Compassionate Care
Pathways 2 Recovery empowers individuals in recovery through compassionate care and structured support. The program provides personalized career coaching and mentoring, job readiness training, and industry-recognized certifications. Participants also receive resume writing, interview preparation, and employment placement assistance.
- Career coaching and mentoring help individuals identify and pursue their passions
- Job readiness training and industry-recognized certifications equip participants with the skills needed for employment
- Employment placement assistance connects participants with employers and supports their transition into the workforce
Removing Barriers to Employment
One of the key challenges individuals in recovery face is finding employment that aligns with their skills and passions. Pathways 2 Recovery removes these barriers by providing personalized career coaching and mentoring. Participants work closely with their coaches to identify their strengths, interests, and career goals, and develop a tailored plan to achieve them.
“Pathways 2 Recovery is not just about finding a job; it’s about finding a career that aligns with your passions and values.” – Patricia Dooley Budsock, Program Manager
The program also partners with employers to create job opportunities that are tailored to the skills and experience of participants. This ensures that individuals in recovery have access to employment that is meaningful and fulfilling. Social Services and Support
In addition to employment and career development, Pathways 2 Recovery provides social services and support to individuals in recovery. These services include transportation, childcare, and mental health resources.
- Transportation provides participants with the means to get to work and other important appointments
- Childcare services support participants who need to balance work and family responsibilities
- Mental health resources help participants manage their mental health and stay sober
Employment as a Catalyst for Growth
Employment is a critical component of sustained recovery. When individuals in recovery have access to employment, they can:
* Rebuild confidence and self-esteem
* Gain stability and a sense of purpose
* Reconnect with their community and rebuild relationships
Employment can also be a catalyst for personal growth, as individuals develop new skills, take on new challenges, and pursue new opportunities. Success Stories
The Pathways 2 Recovery program has served thousands of individuals and partnered with over 1,600 employers across New Jersey. The program has seen numerous success stories, including:
* An individual who was struggling to find employment after leaving a treatment program and went on to become a successful administrative assistant
* A young mother who was able to balance work and family responsibilities with the support of childcare services
* A veteran who was struggling to find employment due to service-related injuries and found success as a counselor at a local veterans’ organization
These success stories demonstrate the impact that Pathways 2 Recovery can have on individuals in recovery and their families. Getting Involved
